KERRY O'BRINE - GRADUATE CATWALK COLLECTION
STATEMENT OF INTENT
FOR YEAR 3 CATWALK COLLECTION (part 2)
Styling
As part of the collection I am looking to use aluminium
(silver and perhaps brushed). The aluminium will form part of the showpiece
and some accessories. I see these all being made in or part made in aluminium:
- Sleek high over the knee boots or sleek grey boots with metal leg
armour over the top
- Metal heeled pointy shoes
- A minimalist rectangle clutch bag
- A belt, hat or flat bangle
The music I imagine is clear, sharp sounds (perhaps operatic) over a hard-hitting
beat.
Approach to Collection
Finding the right fabric and the right colour combination is my priority. I will be approaching the outer garments first to give the overall silhouette and this will then indicate to me what will be needed underneath.
Market Level And Competitors
I am aiming my collection for Couture level. I feel that the style will be a cross between Gucci’s sleek and sophistication and Galliano for Dior’s large and dramatic pieces. Although there will be pieces in the collection designed purely for show there will also be pieces that could be sold in Selfridges or Harrods. My Unique selling point is the mix of different materials and textures within the collection and the way I use only one colour.
